Château Laffitte Carcasset 2014 Saint-Estèphe is a Bordeaux blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. This wine is aged in oak barrels for 12 month, of which, 30% is new French oak. The vines for this wine cover 74 acres on Garonne gravel over clay-limestone subsoil. This wine is an elegant St-Estèphe with beautiful ripe fruit and savory spices. The tannins and fruit are big yet well balanced and the wine is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon that gives it the structure as well as it’s juicy fruitiness. Merlot provides depth and character along with darker richer fruit while Cabernet Franc provides spice and structure. This chateau’s name dates back to the 18th-century When Joseph Laffitte created the estate. This wine comes from the heart of Saint-Estèphe. In 2016, the estate was sold by the Padirac family to Pierre Rousseau. Hubert de Bouard, the famous winemaker and owner of Chateau Angelus, is a consultant for the estate, which has recently increased the quality of their wines. Saint-Estèphe is one of the Left Bank red wine appellations of Bordeaux, known for reds based wines which are predominantly blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Saint-Estèphe is located a the northern part of the Haut-Médoc and the gravelly shores of the Gironde.
