I have the saddest of updates. I had to put my Chaucer-kitteh to sleep today. He had stopped eating or drinking and refused to come out from behind the bed, where he’d had some diarrhea. At the emergency vet they found a significant heart murmur and a mass in his belly. At his age, 15.5 years old, there wasn’t much that could be done that would give a few more years of pain-free, happy life. So I made the hardest decision I have ever had to make. This is the last picture of my good boy, the very best snuggler and reading buddy you could wish for. Who knew his name and could do tricks to get treats (and people food like salmon, which was the best of all treats). Who has been the most wonderful cat since I brought him and his brother home at 8 weeks old. And when Dante died last year did his level-best to comfort me. My house is so quiet now. I miss my Chaucer so, so much. The staff at Bright Eyes and Bushy Tails are the best veterinarians and staff one could wish for. I cannot thank them enough for their honesty and compassion. Rest well, Chaucer, my very best boy. Mama loves you. Dante is waiting for you. #chaucerkitteh #rip https://www.instagram.com/p/BwgVE_8HchV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wlv1a0wz3y5x
