There’s something frighteningly beautiful about girls who radiate sunlight.
It’s as though in their presence you forget that sometimes the winter winds bite too hard, because you’re too focused from the chill that runs down your spine. Not from the temperatures of life, but rather the whispers these girls giggle in the depths of the night. They’re the girls who burn and burn and goddamn does it burn when they smile at you because you know just how many muscles they had to train to get it to look natural. These are the girls with the cries of war behind every syllable they pronounce, every laugh they emit. Victory, triumph, pride in knowing that they’ve been through it all with only a few wounds they will one day bear with utter pride. Battle scars give character. It’s the same girls who calculate everything without knowing it, because their minds are a clockwork of thoughts. Cogs grinding against one another as intelligence hides itself behind the quick glance she gives you when she knows you’re looking.
These girls -- you -- are my inspiration. Asides from the rambling done above, this is me telling you that wow, you’ve made it. You made it to twenty and I’m so damn proud of you for doing so. Twenty years is a lot, and I can’t wait for twenty more. Miles apart, yes, but hearts are always a few seconds away. I’m counting down to when either of us can afford plane tickets to see one another. There’s so much I can say, but also so much I don’t want to because things are often better left unsaid. The silences always hold the most weight. But I want to thank you. Thank you for being with me through so much in life. I honest to god don’t know what I’d do without you. You’re a beautiful, strong, intelligent woman and I hope you know that you don’t always have to be. The strong take their days off and the intelligent ones never need to prove themselves. I know you already know this, but I wanted to let you know. I love you, and I’m sorry this is so late, but happy belated birthday baby girl.
