Wire armatures not only help with structure but they also help with proportions. The clay is usually not strong enough to hold up its own weight so a wire armature helps give it internal support and it’s often combined with an external armature stand that gives additional support. This is especially helpful on larger sculptures. Another thing I love about armatures is that I can indicate many important landmarks of the figure, like the joints, and that way I have some measurements I can rely on throughout the process. Getting some armatures ready for gesture studies and figure sculptures! The larger armatures use 1 inch as a cranial unit making them 11 1/2 inches tall and the smaller ones use 1/2 inch and are just under 6 inches tall. I finally came up with an idea for my stairs! I started working on it before i realized I should take pictures... there is a before video on TikTok lol oops. The burlap under the stairs is new today. We had the burlap left over from the rest of the roof and I have primer for the stairs here already. Should be a relatively cheap project and I have not left the house for it yet! Haha. Hubby will get me the finishing items next time the house needs something else from the hardware store. He is our shopper due to being essential for work and already being out of the house. So we try to lump all the trips into one day if he can.
