It’s always important to sketch out an idea of what we want to do so then we can get all the desired materials, and also make sure everyone in the group is on the same page. So I sketched out our plan for the selfie stick and thought of possible materials for the actual project. We decided to do a similar look to an actual selfie stick, but also want to keep in mind cost, and weight. We thought that we could use broomsticks for the base of the selfie stick, with a dustpan as a holder for the phone. We thought of these as light and cheap materials that anyone had access to. One aspect of the project that we were concerned about was how to make some sort of button. I thought of the idea of using a wooden dowel that is attached to 2 popsicle sticks, but at the end of the popsicle sticks, there would be a hole. The hole would hold some sort of stick or q-tip and act as our mode of movement for the dowel. At the end of the dowel, we thought of adding a phone touchable glove, and tape that onto the other end of the dowel, so it would be able to take the picture. So then the way the whole selfie stick would function would be by pushing the wooden dowel forward, which would then make the touchless glove to hit the phone and take a picture! The tripod was a fairly easy concept to integrate into this project because we thought of just creating some sort of stand with a wooden piece at the top, then drill a hole the same size of the broomstick. So then we can slide the selfie stick through the piece of wood and would act as a tripod. Hope all of this works out..!!
