Nelly Cheboi, who creates computer labs for Kenyan schoolchildren, is CNN’s Hero of the Year
CNN — Nelly Cheboi, who in 2019 quit a lucrative software engineering job in Chicago to create computer labs for Kenyan schoolchildren, is the 2022 CNN Hero of the Year. Online voters selected her from among this year’s Top 10 CNN Heroes. Asha Cheboi is the daughter of Vitani and is a sixteen year old sophomore in high school. Her sexuality is up to her player. Asha grew up in Pridelands. She looks a lot like Ashley Moore. Asha is currently open!
(trigger warning: drugs and alcohol abuse)
Swallowed by a vicious, vengeful sea…
The daughter of Vitani was in no way a princess, but she sure acted like it. Asha lived for praise and affection, and got used to a certain, lavish lifestyle. Her mother worked her ass off so that Asha never had to worry about old clothes, not having enough food, or cramped living quarters, like she had growing up. Though she was quite the spoiled child, Asha was also very generous with what she had. She was also a very pretty girl, and was lucky enough to live in a family that built up women instead of putting them down. Asha was often complimented on her beauty, as well as her brains, which was actually a good tribute to the girl.
Asha loved science. She memorized the periodic table by age ten, and loved learning about chemical reactions and natural elements. She also loved fashion, and putting outfits together, and trying out new make ups. Her mother supported her all the while, buying her science kits, and giving her a large sum allowance to buy shoes, clothes, and makeup whenever she fancied it. Everyone in her family, as well as her teachers and mentors agreed that she would grow up to be a great woman, whether that meant being a fashion designer, model, or scientist. Asha was a pretty tame child growing up, but when she got to be a teenager, she grew restless, and started sneaking out. Asha tried to ask her mom’s permission to go out and explore the town, but her mother was firm about not going out at night. Asha went anyway. She should have listened to her mom.
Asha wandered into a club for under eighteen year olds, and immediately got in with the wrong crowd. A group of teenagers offered her a pill. Without much thought, Asha popped it. After that, Asha couldn’t stop. By fourteen she was hooked on pills and booze, sneaking out every night. Her mother found her crawling down the drain pipe one night, and grounded her, but of course, Asha was used to sneaking out anyway. By sixteen, Asha was completely addicted to any high she could get, throwing all of her ambition out the window.
Dark days are raining over me…
Asha is excited to start at a new school, and to get away from the same, dull routine. She knows that if you can find the right people, you can always get what you’re looking for. And every city is bound to have at least one person with the proper connections. A small part of her wants to turn over a new leaf, but she’s not in any rush to give up her pills.
