Cause I’ll never let you leave, never let you breathe…
Unlike many members of her family, Talia didn’t have a particularly mystical birth. Instead, she was “simply” the daughter of two gods, much like Hercules was. However, unlike Hercules, her birth was not viewed as being a blessed event. There wasn’t a time in history that the Greek gods were not pissed off with Hades, and Talia was forced to receive some of that hostility, despite her mother being Persephone. From the moment she was born, she was unwelcome on Mount Olympus, even if she were to visit with Persephone and Demeter during the Spring. As much as she wanted to get along with her family, it just wasn’t possible. As time went on, she herself began to despise the gods who lived on Mount Olympus, finding that despite all they said about her father, it was really them who were cruel.
For this reason, Persephone and Demeter spent most of the Spring and Summer on mainland Greece with Talia. They’d venture up occasionally but were wary about leaving the young goddess alone for too long for fear she’d cause trouble. And cause trouble she did. As much as she wanted to deny it, Talia lived up to being a god. She enjoyed drinking, partying, and causing trouble among mortals. For her, it didn’t matter. She was invisible, her life would never end, so she figured that she could do whatever she wanted. When her mother was around, this was indeed possible. But her lifestyle change drastically when she was stuck in the Underworld.
Much like it was for her mother in the first few years of her marriage to Hades, the Underworld became a prison for Talia. It was as though she were under constant house arrest. Eyes followed her everywhere and there was no one to interact with, save the boy Pain and Panic had taken in. Because he spent very little time in the Underworld, she was pretty much disconnected from any living creature besides her parents for six months every year. The only thing she could do everyday was sit and listen to the screams of lost souls. The terrible relationship she had with her father only made matters worse and it deteriorated every time she was taken back to the Underworld after having snuck out. For this reason, Talia was still quite young when she decided that as much as she disliked mortals, she’d have preferred to be one. For what was the point of living forever when you had nothing to live for?
Cause if you’re looking for heaven, baby it sure as hell ain’t me…
While the idea of being stuck at a school surrounded by pesky mortals does not appeal to Talia, she can’t say that she’s unhappy for an excuse to avoid the Underworld, and her father, all together. It’s been a long time since she’s been submerged in the mortal world and she isn’t sure what to expect. One thing she is certain of however, is that not a day will pass that she doesn’t have a reason to complain about the “idiot” mortals surrounding her.
