Precious Thing - By Chechebalance (8/10)
A man more valuable than a million dollar heist. A thief who only works when the number is in the millions. A spoiled brat who abuses service workers. How does all this connect into a romance? In a toxic car crash of course. Lie back and wait to be stolen.
Ji Geon-woo is the perfect thief. He's been on the job for at least fifteen years, and he's in high demand in Korea. He still has connections in China too. He owns property everywhere. He's a shadow for hire with his own shadow company, and he does alot of his own dirty work. He's meticulous, blandly handsome, strong...and he's clearly not just a thief.
He's experienced at million dollar heists, which means he's tasted blood many times.
This is his target. Lee Yeshin. A spoiled heir with a tacky new necklace. It appears that Lee Yeshin accidentally recived an ultra rare gem for a much lower price. It's not a regular yellow diamond. Oh no. It's one of only 11 special yellow diamonds in the world, and it's ridiculous that this brat got it for the rich kid equivalent of pennies.
Apparently he's planning on using it in some fashion show where he designs stuff???
Eh. Whatever. Sounds like a stupid rich kid hobby bankrolled by daddy.
We get to indulge in a very dark fantasy with Precious Thing. Lee Yeshin is abusive towards everyone, except his one friend that hooks him up with sleeping pills. He's a pretty rodent with no redeeming qualities.
Things get spicy fast.
Lee Yeshin has fallen out of favor with his grandfather.
Now, Ji Geon-woo has been hired as a bodyguard.
An abusive one.
Ji Geon-woo is allowed to do anything with Lee Yeshin.
So, when he acts up again Ji Geon-woo calmly walks over.
He does wait. It's not punishment without a reason. He only manhandles Lee Yeshin after he starts screaming at a cashier.
He carries the 25 year old out, and he spanks the man within an inch of his life.
It's a great job.
A million dollar payout for one stolen necklace, and nobody cares about the target!
Ji Geon-woo just has to find the gem in between dragging the spoiled little criminal to the occasional fancy family party.
Usually, bodyguards don't last long with the family. When he quits nobody will notice. Also, he's got connections with the best criminals in Korea. He's already ordered a perfect cheap copy of the necklace.
No harm done.
No victim to pity.
1 million more in the bank.
It's an easy job for Ji Geon-woo.
Here's the deal. Lee Yeshin is being punished for his parents mistakes. His father is a cheating piece of shit. His mother is out for only herself, and she never cared about either of the children in her family. Only her own lost pride after she got cheated on.
Lee Yeshin had a brother who loved fashion and design. They both did. They planned to distance themselves from the family and start a business together.
Simple, no?
Well, unfortunately the family money ruined their simple dream...when they were born.
The younger brother was born weak. He was the son of the legitimate wife. It was likely he would grow up with a developmental disability.
At the same time Lee Yeshin was born, and his mother was an escort. The pregnancy was hard, but the boys were born in the same month. Lee Yeshin was born absolutely healthy.
So, Grandfather made a choice.
Switch the babies.
I don't want a slow heir.
So, father did so.
He gave Lee Yeshin to his real wife. The younger brother got to be the son of a mistress.
The kids were raised together. The younger brother turned out alright, but then the truth came out as it always does.
His precious brother chose death, after a lifetime of pointless suffering and bullying. From the very family he should have inherited. He couldn't even look at Lee Yeshin with love. Knowing that his place was taken due to such cruel happenstance.
Lee Yeshin plans to finish college, and show off the designs he made with his brother.
Beyond that he has no reason to live, and nobody gives two shits about his partying and destructive behavior.
He could use some cuddles, instead of drugs.
It helps.
Ji Geon-woo wasn't born yesterday, so he eventually notices that the bratty attitude isn't something Lee Yeshin WANTS to do.
He's trying to get disowned.
He's just a little too cute and pretty.
Really, that's all it boils down to.
It's annoying to watch Lee Yeshin rely on his only friend. A pill pusher also hired by Grandfather, while he bangs about 25 abusive lovers who see him as a hole.
Eventually, Ji Geon-woo makes a decision.
He won't watch Lee Yeshin party hard anymore.
He's going to steal Lee Yeshin instead of the stupid necklace.
Why not?
The guy makes him happy, when he's not acting like a brat on purpose.
Lee Yeshin has absolutely no idea what he's flirting with. He never suspects a thing, because he's so deeply paranoid about his Grandfather. He thinks that man is the most powerful man in the world. A force he has never been able to scratch.
His almost romance with Ji Geon-woo is not planned on either side. So it feels quite genuine. Lee Yeshin is tired of sleeping around. He's just doing everything to numb the pain.
Ji Geon-woo is not here to solve Lee Yeshin's problems. He is in it to steal Lee Yeshin, and he recruits several criminal contacts to assist him.
Lee Yeshin, the miserable legitimate heir borne of a mistress, is going to vanish.
He isn't going to get a say.
Ji Geon-woo is going to hurt him to do it.
The melting, lost dream Lee Yeshin tried to cling to doesn't matter one bit.
In all honesty it just feels like he's switching owners, but at least Ji Geon-woo cares.
He's totally against hurting Lee Yeshin physically. He plans to love him the only way he knows how. By making him forget everything else. He won't be satisfied unless the man he loves is completely stolen.
Who knows what that weird shit entails?
Maybe being a real brat would have led to a better ending.
