At 7 am Friday I flew out of O’Hare to New Haven Connecticut. The mission was to bring home my first aircooled flat six, a G body 3.2 with a 915, finished in Garnet Red. After some ‘apizza’ 🍕 I went to visit the car @butzigear where Dave and Luke were trying to finish it up. I came back the next day where about 7pm it was ready to roll out with some final tweaks to the 915. 903 miles to the south side in a car with no radio nor interior. Mid Sunday I went to my headphones which are typically reserved for air travel. The drive was pretty easy, learning the quirks of these old girls. @achtungkraft was available for consultation. Pump gas upside down and pull up between the seats for heat. Despite the near electrical fire, everything was fine and I did good time. My goal was to make this drive alone. There is no better way to learn a new car, distraction free. And in this case it might have been cruel to subject another to this adventure. But I’d do it again anytime if someone wants a copilot. ✌🏼 @adammkern
