Just fyi, checkingoftheprivilege is a troll blog so you MIGHT not wanna engage them.
Oh! Thank you for the heads-up! :00 I'll definitely be keeping that in mind the next time I consider interacting with them.

checkingoftheprivilege
The blog "checking of the privilege" cannot be real! I mean there are things said on that blog that no sane person would ever even imply.
I’m pretty sure it is. Lets all hope it is anyway.

in fact i feel like arguing that AAVE and other (i assume ethnic) dialects are separate languages has some really weird implications like "oh they're not even speaking english" (in a derisive tone)
idk if this is the platform to expose troll sj blogs, but do peeps know of checkingoftheprivilege? I'm certain they're a troll, like just skimming through some pages there are infinite red flags. some examples: they're replacing the i with an asterisk in "trigger", as well as utterly trivializing what it is (just one example, saying that it is triggering to just say "Hi" to introverts), standard comical exaggeration of the LGBT acronym, saying /reading/ is problematic, it just goes on and on.
Oh yeah definitely. I blocked them forever ago--these people are really obvious... I didn't even think they were trying to conceal the fact they were anti-sj i think they've harassed me in the past. But it's good to give other people a head's up
Should cis people be discussing cissexism and binarism? Doesn't being cis give them a warpped view?
is this in response to a particular ppst/ discussion or in general?
well either way, first off binarism in the way you probably mean it and in ways a lot of people have used it isn’t really a thing
second…it’s complicated. I think cis people SHOULD discuss it but only in certain ways. Like they need to discuss THEIR ROLE in cissexism and call out other cis people. they need to make transphobic spaces more trans friendly. They need to educate other cis people on these issues. But they need to always be taking what trans people said on this as the authority. It’s best if they link to what trans people have said and know that trans people’s opinions are most impirtant. And also that they are focused on educating other cis people and educating themselves and improving their own actions…not on barging into trans people’s discussions or talking over trans people
privilege often warps people’s view but i think it’s less about the warped view and more about the fact they don’t have access to trans people’s experiences and rarely are nearly as aware of the nuances and complexity and details as trans people are. the language and discourse is always changing and few cis people i have met actually can keep up with it as well as trans people do lol
but cis people need to listen to trans people discuss these things and call people out. I also think that cis people CAN call out cafab trans people on trans misogyny IF they understand it because many cafab trans ppl are trans misogynistic and we have privilege over trans women - same goes for calling out white trans ppl who appropriate identities from tpoc or erase their identities or promote narratives that exclude/oppress them
