the cheer pheasant is a pheasant species native to the himalayas, typically found at altitudes of over 6000 feet. duller than some other pheasants, they are distinguishable by their red face masks. females and males are similar, but females are slightly smaller with less impressive tail feathers. they live in monogamous pairs & nest on steep cliffs, laying clutches of 10-11 eggs. due to continuous habitat loss and overhunting, this species is currently vulnerable.
