McCormick family faces + some headcanons
ignore that none of them have shirts i didn't feel like drawing them.
Kenny and Karen inherited a tooth gap from Carol, Kevin got Stuart's crooked teeth but got braces to correct it. his braces have been a huge financial setback for his family and they cant afford to get them taken off.
the subtle differences that the kids have from their parents faces in the drawing (flat nose bridge, thin upper lip, smooth philtrum, epicanthal folds) are all intentional. all three of them have fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, this affects them all differently. Kevin faces the worst cognitive and developmental delays from it, and has struggled immensely in school and socially.
carol used to cut all the kids hair herself to save money, as she got older the drinking made her hands shake to much to cut their hair anymore. Kenny took on the responsibility of giving haircuts instead, he grew out a mullet because he didn't like cutting the back of his hair where he couldn't see. he did his best to give Karen whatever haircut she'd come to him with a picture of, Kevin was easy as Kenny only ever had to touch up his undercut, he didn't like change.
Carol and Stuart both have very dull and grey skin that lacks luster as a result of their meth use over the years. even when they go through phases where they aren't actively using for a while the damage they've done to their bodies is still evident.
Carol has unhealed BPD and PTSD. she loves her kids but she acts irrationally based on impulse and emotion, drugs and booze are the only way she knows how to cope with her past and the turmoil in her mind.
Stuart has PTSD and religious trauma from his abusive father, he struggles with heavy guilt all the time and genuinely believes he is going to hell.
Kenny has a complicated relationship with his parents. he feels anger and resentment for all the neglect and abuse that they put him and his siblings through, but he's also painfully aware of how much pain they've lived through and he's empathetic to their struggles. he understands why they act the way they do and while its no excuse for their actions the explanation makes him feel bad for them. he knows that they're just two broken people trying the best they can, and despite the anger he feels towards them he still loves them.
Kevin has a lot more resentment toward their parents, as he's been treated the worst by them. he feels both of them secretly wished they had never had him, that they blame his existence for their current situation.
Kevin is the scapegoat child, always in trouble, always facing the brunt of the abuse, this has caused him to be rather hostile towards his parents and slightly resentful of his siblings for getting treated better. Kenny is the forgotten child, neglected and ignored, he's left to his own devices so he starts to take care of himself, then he's seen as independent so they think its better to let him take care of himself, he has independence forced on him. Karen is the golden child, the favorite, treated the best by both their parents, she still has to live with the abuse but its rarely ever directed at her.
i got more but thats enough for now lol.
