Blog Assignment #2 - Sensory Evaluation
The new food that I tried recently was “Green Curry.” I ate this dish at Salad King and I would eat it again. The green curry was creamy and did not feel as heavy as other curries I tried. This green curry was spicy and had 3 chilli according to the restaurant’s scale of spiciness. The dish felt very light because it contained many vegetables like green peas, broccoli, chicken. The presentation was a very appealing because it had a pyramid of rice beside the bowl of green curry. The spice was perfect and did the over power the rest of the dish. I tasted the acidity of the lime in the dish too which complimented the heat. Plus, I had a thai milk tea to accompany this dish, which balanced the spiciness and sweet. It smelled spicy but the green colour of the curry, tricked my brain thinking it wasn't spicy. This food was unique to me because I have never associated the colour green with curry. I have always seen brown curry and I am excited to try other colours of curries in the future. Therefore, I had a fun and tasteful time eating this dish with my friends.
Furthermore, I kept wanting to had spoon full after spoon full of the curry because it was that delicious. I think next time I will try to have it less spicier because at times it was overpowering my palate and I had to wait to take the next bite. Also, I might it with brown rice instead of white rice, maybe it will cancel/balance more of the spice. If you are a fan of spice, I would recommend this dish because it was hot enough for you to enjoy. I realized that I’m not a huge fan of spice that I thought I was.
