So something I’ve never understood about being a chef is how male dominated the industry is. Like there is a misogynistic ideal that a woman belongs in a kitchen, but it ends on a professional level. I had a receptionist ask me if I make good tips where I work....assuming I was a waitress. when I corrected her and said I was a chef she was shocked. Like....how is that so hard to believe? I see it every day as the only woman in the kitchen. None of my coworkers make me feel strange or different for being a female, but in the world outside its mind baffling to some people.....
