We have news! We have recently signed contracts with an academy in Cheongna, which is a new city near Incheon! It has a canal running through it (you can canoe on the canal or run/walk/cycle the paths alongside it), and it is close to several beaches and islands. The area will soon be host to the worlds first "invisible building" (more on that next time) and there are lovely parks and hiking trails nearby! The academy focuses on after school programs, so we'll be working in the afternoon and evening. We work fewer hours (also known as a regular working day), have an actual lunch break, and have the mornings free so we are hoping this will allow us the following: • Less stress as we have fewer admin tasks and fewer hours, as well as fewer students. • More energy as a result of the above • More time to explore around us as we won't have to achieve ALL life admin on the weekends • The chance to pick up some courses and/or hobbies in the mornings • Kicking our additional steams of income into overdrive with the benefit of the extra time • Learning to compartmentalise as we won't be so emotionally drained after a ludicrously long work day that we will actually be able to distance ourselves from it! We are also allowed to leave the building during our breaks! This is a breakthrough. The director seems really lovely and the school is clean and modern, as is the area. We will be the only foreign teachers there but hopefully this will help with the compartmentalisation process. All in all we are scared but excited with this decision. We think everything will be even better than it was this year!
