With the year 7 transition period and respect week almost drawing to a close we have had yet another fantastic day! Including more fruit selling and the year 7s building bridges assembly.
During registration some people from each form were very busy! They had to make placards containing three words about what respect means to them to represent their form in the respect march. It will be very interesting to find out what each form has to say!
This week the schools LGBT+ group has raised £110 selling rainbow fruit salad and merchandise donated by stonewall. The money earned is being used for a variety of interesting things to help the LGBT+ community including buying some new books for the schools library. We sold almost all of the t shirts and rainbow laces that were donated to us and a lot of students had a healthy break time snack of fruit salad!
Today was also a great day for the year 7s with their transition project of building bridges drawing to a close. This evening in the arts hall the students delivered a fantastic and engaging assembly to their old year 6 teachers and parents. They discussed many things throughout, such as their best primary school memories and what they have learnt about the bridge and its 200 year anniversary.
The music group also performed a piece of music in the style it would be performed in different centuries, there were many talented young musicians we are glad to have starting full time at our school in September. The end of the assembly was also fantastic with students and parents all joining together to sing Stand By Me, to help promote respect and diversity.
Tomorrow we conclude our respect week with all the students taking part in a respect march across the field. The march is going to take place during registration and lesson one, and we hope everyone is just as excited as we are!
