It was Cheri’s first real bad storm. With the rain pounding on the roof and howling of the wind rattling the windows, it seemed like none of them were getting any rest that night.

Perry: <rocking a cranky Cheri> Shh shh, baby girl. It’s just the rain nothing to be scared of.

Cheri: <whimpers at the sound of a crack of thunder> Ahhh!

Divinity: <yawns as she strokes the back of Cheri’s head> We all need some sleep, lets try laying with her in bed. Maybe being close to us will help her fall asleep.

With a nod, Perry carries Cheri to the bed as Divinity gets the blankets ready. And just like that, even with the pounding rain and howling wind, Cheri was able to fall asleep.

Divinity: <smiles at the sleeping Cheri and whispers> There we go... She’s fast asleep. 

Perry: <leans over and kisses Divinity> Finally. Let’s get some sleep while we can. 

And so ended Cheri’s first stormy night, with a cuddle in the bed and two very tired parents.

12:45pm Wedding Day

Divinity: <blushes and twists around to show off dress> So... this is it. I really wanted to go with something simple but classy.

Magenta: <stares in wonder> Ooh! DEE! You are gorgeous, hun! 

Cheri: <claps excitably> Mom, you look so pretty! Daddy is going to be so shocked.

Ginger: <grins and claps her hands> You’re going to knock him off his feet.

Divinity: <smiles at them, before a sad thought crosses her mind> Thank you guys... I wish my Mom could’ve been here. Agh, I know I shouldn’t think about it, but it just drives me crazy that she STILL doing this.

Ginger: <gets up and hugs Divinity tight> Dee, it’s not your fault. She wants to act like this, it’s on her that she’s missing this import day. Now don’t frown it will mess up Maggy’s make-up job! 

Cheri: <tugs gently on Divinity’s dress> Momma, don’t be sad! Grandpa told me to tell you something.  Cheri: <tits her head in thought before smiling and raising a finger> “Today is a day of happiness and love. So no matter what, smile bright and remember that you are loved.” I think that’s what he said...

Divinity: <sniffles and bends down to hug Cheri tightly> Thank you sweety. Divinity: <takes a deep breath> Okay, let’s do this!

~Cheri’s birthday party~

Time seemed to flash by and before Divinity knew it, Cheri was growing up fast. Friends and family gathered to celebrate and make the day special.

<music plays in the background> Divinity: <sniffles> A I can’t believe time has gone by so fast, Perry! With the work, and planning the wedding... it feels like in a blink of a eye, tiny Cheri is now five! 

Perry: <chuckles and hugs Divinity close> Right?! But she’s growing up to be a lovely girl, just like her Mama of course.

Divinity: <sticks her tongue out at Perry before turning to the group> Guys lets have some cake!

Cheri: <jumps up and down smiling as she grabs for Higashi’s hand> Yay cake! Hehe, come on Grandpa!

Higashi: <smiles down at Cheri> Lead the way, princess.

Cake was served and goofy stories told before it was present time before everyone headed home. 

Cheri: <gives everyone a hug and smiles> Thanks!

Magenta: <ruffles Cheri’s hair> Your very welcome, squirt! 

Ginger: <grins at Cheri> Of course! 

Divinity: <picks up Cheri> Thanks again for coming guys and get home safe!

Everyone waves goodbye and heads out. The excitement of the day finally fading, and Cheri rests her head on Divinity’s shoulder with a sleepy sigh.

Perry: <kisses Cheri’s cheek> Time for bed for this birthday girl.

Cheri: <yawns> Awww.... 

Divinity: <strokes Cheri’s back> Always tomorrow to play with your new toys. But for now, PJs and bedtime.

~Adventures of Doodle and the Jellybean~

It was a rainy day, Doodle and Cheri were stuck inside. But that didn't stop these two from enjoying their day. 

Cheri: <reaches out for Doodle> Doggy! Doggy pway wiff me!

Doodle: <licks at Cheri’s face and wags her tail> Bark!

The two of them ran around the house together, well Doodle ran and Cheri waddled quickly behind her. Laughter and happy barks filled the house for a while. It wasn't till it got quiet that Divinity got worried and checked up on the two. Looking around Divinity found the two cuties fast asleep on the bed, curled up together.

Divinity: <quietly takes a quick snapshot with her phone and whispers to herself> Aww... I’ll have to show this to Perry when he gets home.

With a smile and gentle kiss, Divinity lets them both take a nap. Knowing the chaos will start again in only a few hours.

Cheri: <squeals in delight> Gwampa! Gwampa!

Higashi: <kneels down with a groan and lifts up Cheri> Oh there is my little angel! Oof! Look who is getting bigger, this old man wont be able to carry you much longer!

Divinity: <kisses Higashi’s cheek> Thanks for coming, Papa. 

The three of them head over to the playground. Cheri giggles at Higashi as tosses her in the air before putting her down and taking a seat next to Divinity.

Higashi: <smiles warmly at Divinity> Always nice to see my two ladies. Before you ask, your Mother is aware of our visits. Of course she’s not happy about any of it, but honestly... its been two years. 

Divinity: <puts her hand on top of Higashi’s and smiles sadly> It’s okay, Papa. I’m just glad Cheri can get to know at least one of her grandparents. Are you sure you will be able to make it to the wedding? It would make me so happy to have you there...

The sounds of children laughing and playing fill the crisp winter air. As the sun starts to set the wind starts to pick up. Divinity could hear some of the children being called to get ready to go home.

Higashi: <beams at Divinity> I wouldn’t miss it for the world, darling. I’m truly sorry I couldn’t make it to Harvestfest dinner, your Mother invited so many people over.

Divinity: <puts her hands up in a soothing manor> It’s fine, really Papa! You did a lovely video chat with Cheri that night, so don’t even worry about it.  <shivers as a cold wind blows by before turning and calling out for Cheri> Woo... weather sure is turning pretty fast. We should probably head home. I’ll give you a call next week with the time and date for the wedding? 

Cheri: <comes running over in her tiny legs all the while giggling> Mama! Gwampa!

Higashi: <leans down hugging Cheri before picking her up> Sure that sounds fine, are you sure you don’t want me to get your Mother to come?

Divinity: <kisses Higashi’s cheek and takes Cheri in her arms> No. She wont come anyway, and I don’t want her negativity on everything to ruin it... I’m sorry Papa.

Higashi: <sighs sadly and kisses the two girls cheeks> It’s your wedding, darling. You two get home safe, okay? I’ll talk to you soon. 

Cheri: <waves at Higashi> bye-bye Gwampa!!

The three of them say their goodbyes and start heading home. By the time Divinity pulled in the driveway, Cheri was fast asleep.

~A couple years later~

Cheri: <splashes happily> Mama splashy! 

Divinity: <giggles and gently splashes the water near Cheri before noticing Ginger> Hey Gin!

Ginger: <hugs Divinity and swoops up Cheri> Hey girly, aww look at my little squishy! 

Cheri: <burst out in a fit of giggles>

Ginger hands over Cheri and takes a seat while Divinity takes Cheri to change. It had been two years since Cheri was born and to Ginger, Divinity couldn't look happier.

Divinity: <puts Cheri down and sits at the table> Thanks for waiting, Gin. 

Ginger: <grins at Divinity> No problemo! So... The wedding, you excited?! ‘Cause I sure am! I can’t believe you guys waited so long.

Divinity: We wanted to wait to make sure everything was stable plus Cheri has taken pretty much all of our time. But not that shes a little bit older she we started planned... or more like I started planning, heh.

Cheri: <sequels happily> Twiangal! 

Ginger: Are you guys still going for a spring wedding? 

Divinity: <looks toward Cheri and smiles before turning back to Ginger> That’s right sweet, a triangle. Yep, we are thinking of maybe February. I know its a little silly being the same month as Love Day. 

Ginger: <waves her hands and beams at Divinity> No no! It’s a perfect time for you two. I’m just so excited for you!

Divinity: <blushes> Thanks, I’m SUPER excited... I cant believe its finally happening!

After a couple hours pass as they catch up before Cheri gets cranky for a nap. With a hug goodbye and a quick kiss for Cheri, Ginger tells Divinity that she will call tomorrow before running off. Divinity carries a sleepy little girl home for her nap, thinking of flowers and wedding bells.

1:15 AM at LemonHills Family Hospital

On a cold windy November morning, little Cheri Lynn Vale was brought into this world. 

6:00 PM at home

Divinity: <wraps her arms around Perry, as they both look on their new bundle of joy> Welcome sweet little thing, to our family.
