I just really liked her design when I first saw her, and thought "Wow, that's cool and simplistic!", and great designs are always quite memorable, so, uh. Dunno where I was going with this. On an unrelated note, how does Monsoon look w/o her helmet?
Aw, thank you so much! Simplicity is what I was going for (though considering she’s supposed to be from the X1 era, she should really be clunkier, but whatever).
GGGGGGGGOSH THAT’S A GOOD QUESTION. Dude I don’t even know what she looks like with her helmet, every single time I’ve sketched her it comes out looking different! I didn’t want her having the same sort of helmet design as X, and I also wanted her to have some sort of crown thing because of her name, but it’s really throwing me off! Hm, I don’t usually do this, but here’s a preview of some of my current sketches:
I wanted her little communication headset thing to be on the sides of her head rather than over the ear like X’s, but it looks a little too cyber elf-y (which isn’t bad, but it’s the wrong era). I also wanted her gem things to be on the side of her head so they look like butterfly eyeballs, but I’m trying to manage both things without making her head / helmet too messy (or too plain looking).
I’ll probably be able to resolve the design issue if I just draw it out in my sketchbook, I’m just being stubborn. I tend to run into problems when designing from scratch digitally; I just gotta go back to the basics then get back to digital stuff once I figure things out!
But anyways re: helmetless Monarch, I don’t actually think she’d be able to take it off! Her manufacturers didn’t build her with the intention of letting her pass as a civilian Reploid. She probably wouldn’’t care, she’s attached to her crown!
