As someone who, to my knowledge, has no claim on any sort of Native American lineage, I realize it isn’t exactly within my lane to speak on some related subjects.

However, I would like someone to let me know why these fresh-off-the-Mayflower lookin’ snow-skins think they can claim Native ancestry…

The trees generally are vase-shaped when young, but mature to a more rounded silhouette. Native varieties can be subject to anthracnose and other fungus diseases, so rake up and dispose of all their leaves in the fall and prune the tree only when it is dry to avoid spreading spores.

Whenever someone makes a comment about my bone structure. Mainly my cheek bones.

Me: “Yeah, I have a pointy face. My mother’s paternal side of the family were Swedish immigrants and my father’s paternal family were Native.”

Them: “I’m part indian too! My great great great somebody was a Cherokee princess!”

Me: “Yeah, my Grandfather lived on a reservation as a child and I’m pretty sure every photo I’ve ever see of the grandmother I was name after was just Geronimo in a dress....”

So who is this famous Cherokee Princess that all of these white people are related to?

Am I the only white American who doesn’t claim to be part Cherokee?  How come nobody claims to be part Ojibwe or part Ho-chunk?  My chance of having any native ancestry is pretty much zero.  If I do, it’s not Cherokee and it won’t make me more interesting or cool.  If a test showed Native American DNA, it’d just be something new I learn about me, like when I found out my blood type is AB+.
