Chase's Cherry Mash
I stumbled across Chase's Cherry Mash in a candy aisle in Ohio and was intrigued by its old-timey exterior.

Less intriguing was its chalky milk chocolate and neon nougat interior...But Gluten Free!
The wrapper claims that the Cherry Mash has been "an American favorite since 1918," and includes recipes for both a custom milkshake and a sundae on the back. I've loved cherry cordials since I was a kid, always asking for and receiving my very own Russel Stover box every Christmas until my late teens. Maybe I was expecting the Cherry Mash to live up to that maraschino-cherry-suspended-in-Cadbury-Creme quality experience, and although it was definitely reminiscent of cherry cordials, the slightly medicinal, menthol coolness of the flavoring reminded me more of cough syrup. The waxy milk chocolate studded with chopped peanuts was sort of sundae-esque, so I've included the recipe for adventurous souls who happen to come across this nostalgic find.

Melt two Cherry Mash bars with two tablespoons milk. While still warm, pour over vanilla ice cream.

Day Six
Has it seriously only been six days? Huh. Well, today I decided that this week I'll focus on running, so I went for another run around my neighborhood. I then ate a Cherry Mash which was so fucking delicious I don't even care that it totally cancelled out my running.
