I ate this week's wagashi right out of their teeny boxes because all on one plate is too heavy to lift with my fractured wrist.

#wagashi clockwise from top: Cherry mochi, Mountain Road and Fern mochi.

The Cherry and Fern mochi both have rice outer layers but the Cherry is granular and rough and the Fern is as thin, soft and stretchy as wagashi get.
