Request: @cheryblo “I read how most of your stories were surrounded around David's time in the Prometheus, so I was thinking perhaps if you could write something about both the Reader and David being on earth, and years away from the Prometheus mission. Also some jealousy scenes would be great.”
That afternoon was one of the unhurried ones. David didn't include too many responsibilities on his checklist that needed his immediate attention, so he was only taking care of a few of the urgent ones. He allowed himself to work at a slower pace while taking in everything the emerging season had to offer. Even his synthetic body was experiencing the positive effects of the refreshing spring air. He felt light and renewed; sun rays, which made their way through the clouds more and more confidently, warmed the skin pleasantly and emphasized the beauty of the surrounding world. He watched with interest the people whose lives took place outside the windows of the institute where he spent the vast majority of his time. Some, like himself, seemed to be intoxicated with the weather, and others who rushed to work ignored the soft touches of spring brushing their hair in the warm gusts of wind.
It took a while for David to turn his head away from the window and get back to the cleanups that still awaited him in the training rooms and lecture halls. Something else was on his mind as well, or rather someone else. A doctor that once made a great impression on him on the very first day of her work for Weyland. Which was certainly not an ordinary experience. David would never admit it aloud, but deep inside, he felt a slight aversion towards people. They were petty, maladjusted, yet they had contempt for anything that differed even in the slightest way. He was painfully aware that the man who was also his creator had many faults, yet he still appreciated his abilities. He simply couldn't deny that he was not treated as an individual. It was unfortunate that David's wires made him extremely sensitive to any signs of contempt for him.
And yet she was completely different. They were introduced to each other, and she was the only one to extend her hand towards him with that kind smile of hers that made David light up even now. He left the lecture hall to pick up the materials needed for today's classes. (Y/N) asked him to help her give a lecture, and he was never able to refuse. It's not like he ever wanted to. Moreover, thanks to her, he felt that his presence was more than a promise of comfort and obedience. By teaching classes or participating in discussions, he grew and became part of a team that was promised to do great things in the future.
He left the room with a box in his hands and headed towards the classroom. He must have lost his sense of time because (Y/N) was already standing by the door and chatting with one of the new team members. He didn't think much of it at first, but as he walked closer, the smile that she greeted him with was once again present on her lips. David felt a weird sensation inside, something similar to a sharp sting that quickly pierces through your body. He knew that feeling well. He confessed to his experience during one of their shared evenings. She playfully quirked her bow and categorized this emotion as 'jealousy.' He tried to deny it at first but to no avail. There was an undeniable bond between them, and that conversation made him realize he wasn't alone in his feelings. That night opened completely new possibilities, and they became even closer. David was helping (Y/N) with her studies, and she didn't mind staying in the institute for a few hours longer every day to just talk to him about everything and anything. What took him by surprise was her invitation to her house. That made him believe that she truly perceived him as more than just an android designed to help around. The pleasant feeling of her delicate skin touching him was still vivid in his mind. So many intimate memories and sensations coded in his synthetic brain that he was somehow able to translate into very human feelings.
"Hello David, are these for me?" (Y/N)'s voice broke his train of thoughts.
His blue eyes met hers, and he suddenly felt safe again. He couldn't explain it, but one look was able to reassure him that there was no threat. There's never be.
"As you asked, doctor," he smiled gestured towards the classroom. "Shall we?"
"With the greatest pleasure."
Thank you so much for reading! ♥
