Chessie

Found in the Chesapeake Bay and like many other lake monsters has a name that is a reference to the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie. The first known sighting is from 1936, accounted by the crew of a military helicopter who described the creature as “Something reptilian and unknown in the water.”

There’s also a manatee named Chessie that was rescued from Chesapeake Bay Area back in 1994.

Yes, a three hour tour. But just a calm day from #SolomonsIsland to #Annapolis up the #ChesepeakeBay. Lots of debris warnings due to the recent rains but we only saw a couple and the water was practically glassy at times. Lots of fisheries activities and the marinas were abuzz. Captain Per guided us smoothly and keeping watch just allowed for more #bluemine uptake. Despite being “local” these last years I had never been up the middle of the bay and seen the sights from the water - #CalvertCliffs, #ChesepeakeBayBridge, #USNavalAcademy, #StateCapitolBuilding, that house I wanted with the doc... :) Hopefully there will be more work and play in the future here. #MD #Chesepeake (at Chesapeake Bay)

DANG! That’s a lot of ice! ❄️After a week of freezing temps up and down the east coast, a couple warm days late last week were enough to break the ice that had formed over the Chesapeake Bay. The result?
