....im going to hurt myself by asking this lol but
Making breakfast with ushijima
You hated how calm Ushijima could be sometimes.
You'd gone to bed angry, woken up angry, and even in this moment, while you weren't exactly as fired up as you had been previously in the past 24 hours, there was an increased vigor in the way you whisked eggs, enough that he had noticed even if he didn't say anything.
He walked around you carefully, difficult in this tight space you were in so that he could reach the toaster and place two slices of bread inside.
His elbow accidentally bumped into yours, causing you to almost drop the bowl of eggs onto the ground with a crash.
Even if you caught it, it was enough to set you off.
"Wakatoshi!" You snapped.
"Sorry," he offered, unsure exactly of how to help given that no real damage was done; you hadn't broken anything and you weren't wincing in pain, you were just upset, upset the same way you had been ever since you left his mother's home and returned to your extended stay hotel.
You had good reason to be upset, he acknowledged, but there was really nothing he could do.
Well, there was.
"How is 'sorry' enough?" You finally said, your voice clear. By now, it was abundantly clear that this new conflict was not about the eggs but about the two of you.
For once, Ushijima sucked in air through his lungs and admitted his weakness.
"What was I supposed to do?"
Your palm itched as the urge to slap him coursed through your veins.
"Say no! Say that you loved me and wouldn't entertain anyone else. Say that we'd come here for their blessing and wouldn't leave without it. Fight for us... for me!"
The tears now in your eyes swayed him, but not enough apparently to call off his unexpected engagement.
Not then, not now, not ever.
