“Ah, it’s beautiful.”
Downrigging - Chestertown, Maryland by Kevin B. Moore
Grub Hunter: The Movie.
Well not really, though the idea has legs I think.
This is Myzinum maculatum. Dangerous enough to look like it would be in "THE GRUB HUNTER MOVIE". Actually it does hunt grubs, finds them underground, lays an egg on them, the baby wasp eats the grub alive...the usual thing. Our Grub Hunter comes from Chino farms Maryland.

Chestertown Visits!
Hey Goslings!
Chestertown, Maryland is a very great place to learn stroll around town and hang out with friends. It is a small town, and shoppes do close early, but I still love it here. Chestertown is such a cute small town filled with shops and coffee cafes- perfect for a nice day of shopping! Here is the official Julia Fuchs Chestertown, Maryland Trip Advisor article!
Food:
1. Play it Again Sam’s
This cute, quirky cafe is perfect for a coffee to go, a sandwich, or a shake! I love taking visitors here for lunch, it is affordable and the service and food are great.
2. The Freeze
This ice cream parlor/grill has some great goodies. From their delicious oreo milkshakes to their mouthwatering fried chicken The Freeze is the perfect Late Night Bite stop.
3. Proccolino’s Pizzeria
This is great for a convenient Italian bite. I love their Pasta, and the men who work here are so friendly!
4. Cafe Sado
A fun sushi/Japanese eatery! If you love Japanese food, this stop is perfect for you!
5. Bad Alfred’s Distillery
This is a cute pub to stop in, and their pizza is amazing!
Shops:
1. Twigs and Teacups
As the WAC website puts it, they have a little bit of everything.... and two adorable store cats. Definitely stop in here if you get a chance, I can never stop in there without buying something!
2. Bookplate
Another store I can’t resist, they have tons of books for thrifty prices! I need to learn to avoid Cross Street because all my money is spent there!
3. Bee Crafty Antiques
A very cute store with a very friendly owner who loves college students! Definitely worth a look, it is not like your typical antique store.
4. Dockside Emporium
A cute store with great gifts for families. I have gotten a few post cards and Maryland Pride gifts here!
Entertainment
1. Chesapeake Movies!
Check out the local movie theater! It’s adorable and very affordable!
2. Sumner Hall
This is a very unique historical site, housing some rare paintings of African American soldiers who fought in the Civil War. It helps you learn a lot about the Civil Rights Culture of the town!
3. Custom House
Stop by the Custom House Fridays and Saturdays and get a tour! It is a perfect taste of the local history we celebrate here in Chestertown!
4. Public Archaeology Lab
Our archaeology lab is open to the public here in Chestertown! I would recommend stopping by. Our lab director is awesome and will let you do some sample work to get a feel for what we do!
5. Garfield Center Theater
Love theater? Check out this historic theater in town! They do plays all year, and students get in for $10!
6. Chester River Marina
Like to Kayak? Check out the Marina! Rent a kayak to take out on the water and explore!
And obviously, the best place to visit in Chestertown is Washington College! We have many events in the Spring- from sporting events to plays, musicals and concerts! Be sure to come visit this wonderful school!
Sophomore Year, Week 2
Hello goslings! I'm back from summer vacation! Did you miss me?
No? Okay, then. Well, I still hope you had a marvelous break from school!
This semester is shaping up to be a busy but fun time. Right now, I am partaking in a remote internship so that I can have real-world experience while I'm still in college. Also, I am participating in 3 English classes as well as a Political Science class for my distribution. (In case you didn't know, the distribution is a list of required topics that students take to get a well-rounded liberal arts education and to graduate. For example, I am taking the Political Science class for my distribution.)
So far, my semester is going well. I've already written several papers and reading responses, but what else would you expect from an English major? As of right now, my favorite class is my ENG 392, which is a special topic class about writing reviews and criticisms. The rest of the students are kind and Prof. Abdur-Rahman is sweet and funny. I think it's going to be a great semester!
I would also like to mention one side note: make sure that, when choosing your classes, you think about what is best for you. This was the first semester I had to drop a class. With my internship, other classes, and club duties, I just couldn't handle that 5th class. Before this semester, I was always hesitant to drop classes. I felt like I had already made a commitment, so dropping the course would've been like quitting. However, it is also important to realize what workload works for you to ensure your mental health. So yes, make every semester count with academics, but also make sure you have time to breathe. If a class doesn't feel right to you, talk to your advisor and peers!
Now that the serious parts are out of the way, enjoy these pictures of my first few weeks back!
We may be college students, but we're still young at heart! Check out my awesome roommate's blog! @natcatatwac
We went to the same high school together and now we're all studying at Washington College. Holly, on the left, is starting a blog too, so make sure to check hers out!
Don't you want to have fun like this too? Come visit Washington College!
Until next time! 😁
