"The Deserter" is honestly one of the best episodes of ATLA. Chey and Jeong Jeong are both incredible, complex characters and the story is rich and complex and gives us great insights into Fire Nation society. Both Aang and Katara get important growth which will have real consequences later on in the series. The fact that Avatar Roku ends up being completely wrong about what Aang's path should be is also interesting.
