I just wanna pop in here and say that I love the idea of Hyness teaching Human! Nightmare magic so much! (I'm actually thinking about how I can put that into my own au)
Would you be down to share more about their dynamic and how they interacted with each other? (I know Hyness gets salty towards him at some point?)
think Mirthagen is a very eager student in general, sometimes to a point where it annoys hyness but he'd rather teach someone who is interested. Though I think hyness also eventually let's his guard down and let's him meet his family and invites him sometimes for events and such, it's got everyone talking about how hyness has a successor and naturally curious about this "human" that they have neve seen before. Mirthagen talking about his experiences on different planets really feeds into his self-importance. At a certain point, Mirthagen reaches his cap because humans can't do magic past a certain point and Mirthagen is pissed about this while hyness assures him that he should be proud that he even got as far as he did so he turned to other methods
Nightmare hardly remembers hyness and hyness is very indifferent towards nightmare, but he eventually does connect that nightmare is the one who started the galactic crisis and instead of blaming himself it further pushes him into thinking that resetting the universe is actually the best idea ever. No one really knows either of these facts, and after everything is said and done, the entire truth of the galactic crisis is lost
In reality, nightmare was always kind of eccentric and power-hungry even as a human but he made the choice to forgo his humanity to get what he wanted, yet he still holds the unbreakable human spirit (evil version). Hyness has always been someone who lets his self-pity dictate his decisions. So they always kind of sucked to begin with but became worse as a result of their rise to power

The Best guy ever. I now hc that he's older than kirby because dark matter (in the scientific hypothetical) actually would accelerate time as we understand, so now he's more like an older brother

Idea for a story
Kirby is sick, and Gooey goes on a kirby adventure to take his place for a day. Not a whole lot would change, but it would give him something to do
Unpopular opinion
This doesn't really pertain to gooey, gooey is perfect in every way, but more so about stuff surrounding him, I wish dark matter stuff was actually interesting. It just treads a lot of already covered ground, not in a metaknightmare-ey way but more like all of it ends up being about dedede
