Out of all the people and the places she could be stuck in, it had to be with Bourbon in an attic. She didn’t know where she could run to or hide since the only exit was jammed and she wasn’t strong enough to open it with her child strength.

She just had to comprise with her enemy until she had a chance to get away from him. She was just lucky that the darkness concealed her face so he wouldn’t be able to figure out her true identity. “Listen! I know that we both want to get out of here! Can you try and open the attic door with your strength?” Haibara asked.

► That taking a closer look around the attic hadn't been his best idea became clear to him the moment the door was closed with a bang behind him. From that moment on it took him a while to realize that he wasn't alone. It was hard to identify the child, but from the voice alone Rei was rather sure that the girl was one of Conan’s friends. Which probably meant the boy was around as well. Considering the fact that there currently was an homicide investigation took place on the first level of this building it wasn't that surprising probably.

"Sure I can try. But I wonder why you're here little one? Are your friends here as well?" he wanted to know, tilting his head to the side while going back to where he remembered the door being - maybe they should look for the light switch first? - before trying to open it by throwing himself with his full body weight against it. But - of course - it wasn't that easy. It never was.

"It seems like the doors stuck kinda?"

What left the question if the door closed on his  own because of the wind or something or if someone trapped them in here.

Subaru was smiling, even through the gritted teeth. He clutched at the wound to his abdomen, to help stem the flow of blood. His eyes were open now instead of squinting. Despite that, he was using his other hand to reach into his coat pocket and pulled out a handgun.

He aimed in the direction of the shot and fired several times. Though he got the person- blood splattered across the wall and the bastard had collapsed- he kept aiming at the culprit.

“You okay, princess?”

“Princess, don’t take photos of me.” Subaru was definitely not happy with her doing so, but she was at least somewhat trustworthy compared to a unknown person snapping a photo. Still, he’d need to delete it...
