A Chicago Queer needs your Support
A good friend of mine just posted this you caring and she can really need some support.
If you can donate that’d be amazing, but if you can’t a signal boost would be great as well. I’m copying what she posted below.
Vulnerability is not my strong suit, but I’ve been reading a lot of Brene Brown, and she’s been telling me if I want to live a wholehearted life, I’ma have to learn. Some of y’all may know, I’ve been dealing with some mental health issues, depression, generalized anxiety, and social anxiety, for a very long time. In September, when I lost my job, my mental health took a turn for the worse and I checked myself into the hospital for my own safety. Those seven days and the ones since have shown me that my depression and anxieties have gotten far more severe than I realized. I am amazingly lucky enough to live in a home with two extremely supportive roommates. If I’m having a particularly rough night they are always there to listen and talk. They have linked me to resources, shared their stories with me, allowed me to support them, done therapy homework by my side, and just really walked through the fire with me. They have been integral to my recovery process. My health team and I have been working together on various fronts to make my mental health recovery a success. In addition to my individual therapy, my therapist and I are looking to get me enrolled in a partial hospitalization program, where I will get the more structured and intensive care that I need at this time. I’m now on the hunt to find a part-time job that I can work evenings and weekends, around my therapy schedule. My recovery is off to a really good start and I am asking for your help in keeping me in my apartment so that I can continue making good progress. My portion of the rent is $450 and utilities will come to about $100, anything extra will go to cover my medications, food, bus fare, etc. Thank you so much in advance for all the good thoughts, prayers, requests to the Universe, and of course any money you can contribute.
