does anyone have any recommendations for leftist Latine youtubers? I love Philosophytube and Contra and all that, but I’m a little tired of listening to white people talk about racism.

being chicano is weird because you’re just constantly unraveling layers and layers of colonization and assimilation.
america wiped away the spanish mestizo culture, which wiped away the indigenous azteca culture.
i speak english because they beat my grandparents for speaking spanish. my grandparents spoke spanish because their grandparents were beaten for speaking nahuatl.
im a protestant christian because my mother converted from roman catholic, and we’re both completely in the dark as to what our native faith even would have looked like.
ive lost even the culture that was thrust upon me.
the inner tension of being mexican, knowing you have native ancestry (it shows in every feature on your face), and yet being completely unable to connect to it because of generations of assimilation and forgetting
the inner tension of being Christian and mexican with native ancestry, knowing that your sincerely held faith and relationship with God was only given to you as a byproduct of colonialism, and that your disconnect with your heritage is heavily linked to the religion your ancestors were forced to convert to.
you pray to the God your ancestors cursed.

I recently just came out to my mom and she gave me some of the best advice I would ever want from a parent. "Listen Mijo, it's okay to experiment as much as you want because people change, you'll change. Since I was younger I've ALWAYS thought about being with a woman and still do. I might be with a woman later and that's okay. I just hope you remember to not give a fuck or let anyone stop you from living your life or let it affect you them shunning you from their life." My mom grew up in southern mexico where being gay was super taboo as well as women being suppressed by the patriarchal male, enduring the worst from forced marriages. She has always taught me to be proud of being myself and not letting anyone treat me like shit. She's not afraid of leaving a man. To this day she tells my stepdad everyday that he can leave if he isn't happy or if he tries to stop her from having her freedom. I am one proud kid.
