🍓 — Something they love
I think I've mentioned this indirectly before (at least on my other blog), but Cricket loves the feel of Donald's face scruff during the colder months XD It's his most fur-adjacent quality which not only simulates interacting with another rat to a degree, but it's also just a nice texture. The warmth and closeness in those moments is very comforting to her c:
🙃 — A weird little habit they have
When sleeping in her own tiny bed, Cricket is intent on arranging the blankets in such a way that they form a little nest. Otherwise she'll feel too exposed and won't sleep very well.
🎧 — A song that fits them
I feel like You Are My Sunshine is basically Cricket's anthem, if you were to imagine Donald singing it to her. Cricket's very first 'name' was actually Sunny, since Donald refused to refer to her as a specimen number and instead used a stand-in until she eventually chose her own name later on. So not only does the song fit due to her sun-related themes, but the lyrics also happen to be a simplified description of the events that take place in the story:
(Verse 1) Cricket becomes Donald's ray of sunshine and only just begins to realize how much she's loved by him; (verse 2) Cricket is reclaimed by Atlas Laboratories (the ones who created her) without Donald's knowledge, and he becomes incredibly distraught once he realizes she was taken away.
