i read a few fics where the main premise was just that Byakuya saves Chihiro during chapter 2 by either just "right place right time" nonsense where he was early enough to realize what was happening and stop Mondo or by Chihiro just like barely holding on when he comes to string them up

and now i keep thinking about that because that is such a neat concept to me

“he wouldn't do that” ehh i mean like i guess??? but i think it's pretty easy to swing it into something he would do tbh but that's part of the fun of it too the whole time he's going "what the hell am i doing" in his head

it can be a growth moment

or just like a he has an ulterior motive thing or even a he's lying about having an ulterior motive thing and he just makes one up later to cover up for the fact that he acted on instinct in a way that he thinks was stupid

or just a simple "the game would be boring if he already knows who did it" kind of thing

anyway it just has a ton of potental for an interesting canon divergent concept. Like by default in that chapter that would lead to everyone's secrets being reveled since that was the motive.

Also Toko would be so pissed off about this and might even try to kill Chihiro herself since she does say in the trial that she wished she had so add in the jealousy and it might just end up with poor Chihiro having another attempt on their life

Also Mondo just in general having to deal with him especially since there were already super complicated feelings there over the whole situation since it wasn't like premeditated and happened in a moment of weakness and rage.

also that whole moment from everyone else of just "you saved her? You??? that's weird- that's suspicious"

like in a few of them Byakuya is just keeping Chihiro in his room while trying to make sure they don't die after having been hit while also just not telling anyone that they're in there and that's also really fun because everyone is just running around because Chihiro's missing and Mondo's quietly panicking because like He knows Chihiro's dead and surely couldn't have just got up and walked away.

My brain is so magic focused because most of the fandoms I'm in are pretty magic heavy but

Danganronpa Soulmate AU

but specifically that one concept I've talked about before where the soulmate tell is that you can save your soulmate from death one single time with Byakuya ending up saving Chihiro when he goes in to try to string them up.

In my brain it's like a reset they are healed and fine it's you know soulmate au bs that in universe no one really understands in the first place.

I also think most of the classmates have already used theirs and just don't remember it. Which adds a fun 'their brain is telling them that this person is important but touching them didn't do anything. Their last moment of hope in terms of them being alive being crushed' type thing.

Also with chigami/chihigami it adds a very easy reason for why the hell Togami's trying to keep Chihiro nearby because now they're an asset and more useful alive then they would be dead. Since if it came down to it and something did happen to him they could revive him.

Though also the idea of them having a conversation(read Byakuya talking at them) about if he did become the blackened and by some intense stroke of misfortune the idiot class somehow figured it out it wouldn't even matter because Chihiro would just bring him back.

Just for Chihiro to get to have a good standing up for themself moment of saying that 'no they wouldn't if it came to that' even though they are kind of bluffing and probably would even though they would be very very upset with him.

Point is though Byakuya just assuming Chihiro will just go with whatever he wants and not bother standing up for themself and being thrown for a loop a little bit when yeah sure it's through tears but they do.

Chihiro's 'I can fix him' meaning 'I can make him a better person'

Byakuya's ' I can fix them' meaning 'I can make them more like me'

just evening out to making them both a little more normal.

also the potential for Chihiro blackened? Well not really

But Byakuya thinking about how if everyone gets executed if they fail at picking the right person then if he can convince Chihiro to murder someone and is able to help them cover it up then they could both get out that way. Even though convincing Chihiro would so not be an easy task like at all. So maybe he'd give up on that idea pretty quick but he would consider it though.

I also think this au would fit really well with Genocider Syo's whole thing because I think it would be neat if she's doing what she does as a fucked up way of finding hers. Hoping a bit that one day she'll do it and they'll wake up after.
