So when I'm bored I randomly write stuff...this is a little old, but I used a RolePlay prompt list and I got Battle Royale as my theme! Now, I haven't seen the movie (yet) but I know the basic concept.
She hid in the closet, black hair covered with an old coat in an attempt to hide herself as her classmates looked around the room. Blue eyes glanced at the guns, causing her body to tremble more. All she wanted to do today was sleep in and cuddle her dog, but her mom made her go to school. Marilena closed her eyes and tried to calm herself, remembering all her friends who must be dead by now.
She had hid the entire time, while she knew her friends would try to fight. Images flashed in her mind, images she had taken with her camera. Pictures of Heather and James having a food fight at their birthday party. Stifling a laugh, Marilena remembered the cake mashed into Heathers hair, the strawberry jam sticky in the curly blonde hair. Another memory came up, of her and her father playing racing games together when she was little. She had always won an ice cream cone after the session. The memory most important to her was her 10th birthday party. She had invited all her friends from her new school, her now closest friends. From James, she got a necklace with a blue butterfly necklace. “It’s for good luck!” He had told her, grinning as she put it on. From that day on, for 6 years, she made sure she always had it with her.
Tears rolled down her freckled cheeks as she smiled; the voices of her friends laughing playing over and over in her head. It all ended as soon as it began though, as the closet doors were opened. "Come out, Marilena.” ordered Freya. They had never been on good terms, Marliena glaring at the redhead as she stepped out.
"You must have searched everywhere for me, huh?” She questioned, smirking as the tears continued to fall from her eyes.
"Just get on your knees, freak.” Shoving the girl to the ground, a butterfly charm fell from Marilena’s necklace as a gunshot was heard a moment later. Marilena was left to bleed out as she held her shoulder, panting. Grabbing the charm as she curled up on the ground, she smiled. She didn’t kill anyone, and she was proud of herself for that.
Footsteps were heard from behind her a few minutes later, calm walking turning to running as Heather and James kneeled next to her. "Mari, Mari!!” Heather screamed, trying to get her up as James struggled to pull his sister away.
"Heather, she’s gone, we need to hide now that you screamed!” He grabbed her arm and finally tugged her away. He knelt next to Marilena as his sister sobbed in the background. Gently repositioning her body so she laid comfortably, he took the charm from her hand and closed her now empty blue eyes. “Fly away, Mari. We will join you soon…” Whispering, he looked up as Freya came back into the room. Two more gunshots rang out as a blue butterfly flew past the window.
