Biblical Israel
by Aaron Logan When the UN established a modern-day nation and gave it the same name as an ancient, Old Covenant nation, "Israel," it created an enormous amount of confusion for modern-day Christians, profoundly affecting (and misdirecting) theology and politics. Modern day Israel is NOT the same nation as Old Covenant Israel. To say they are the same is to backtrack over the blood of Jesus, to erase the writings of Paul (who said there is no Jew or Gentile, but that the two groups were made one in Christ), and to ignore the faithfulness of God by fulfilling His promise to Israel in sending their Messiah, establishing a New Covenant based on faith, bringing the old system to an end, and including Gentiles as fellow heirs. God is the one who brought that Old Covenant system to an end, and established a better Covenant based on better promises. He's not interested in separating Jews and Gentiles again (undoing what Jesus did), going back to a temple with animal sacrifices, and the Old Covenant arrangement with physical descendants rather than children of faith. The New is much better :)
