When you’re at the desk and a large children’s summer program releases
After an incredibly busy summer reading desk shift
No tea, no shade
WHEN THE CHILDREN’S SUMMER PROGRAM EVENT LETS OUT
With all digital checkouts, the library lost the magic inherent in checkout slips. However, they gained two new powers:
When children are good, the librarian grants them the sticker gun to slap the "return by" label on each book.
When children are rude, they are invited to help the librarian peel off old labels. One does not turn down the invitation.
Noooooo
That feeling of elation followed by disappointment when the first book of your giant order has been catalogued, labeled, genre stickered... and put immediately into transit to another library. *Shakes Fist*
At least I appear to be ordering the right books, though...
