The abandoned McMurray Cemetery is located on the Monroe County side of Chilhowee Lake, near Mt. Pleasant Road in the tiny mountain community of Citico. I don't know much about it, but I plan to do more research on the family buried there soon. Turkeypen Falls, although up the road a piece from Chilhowee Dam, is technically in Monroe County, as all descriptions of it point to it lying within the vicinity of the Cherokee National Forest. The ruins of the old Babcock Bridge that went over the Little Tennessee River and joined the Southern Railroad from Calderwood and went to Alcoa, Tennessee. This ruined structure was a gauging station that was used to monitor and test the waters of Chilhowee Lake. It was most likely built around the same time as Chilhowee Dam, which was in 1957.
