ChimerOFA au:
Izuku's breath comes out as a small puff of steam as he allows himself to relax. Present Mic's announcement about the end of the practical may have been abrupt, but he's thankful for it. That nice girl from the entrance had to help him after he miscalculated his last jump and ended up flailing in the air. It was better that his mistake happened at the end rather than the middle of the exam, where he'd be unable to gather more points.
Speaking of points, he thinks he passed! He can't remember the exact number of points, but he smashed a lot of them, even if he had to stop sometimes to grab people away from the line of fire. And it was so instinctive!
Clenching his but and yelling Smash really did work! He shouldn't have doubted All Might!
"Whoa, what a rush!" It's the nice girl again. Izuku turns to thank her, but she's already speaking before he can gather himself. Even All Might's quirk can't help him talk to girls it seems. "It was all 'Wham!' and 'Pow!', and before I knew we were all running around, breaking robots! I just hope that I got enough points to pass..."
Izuku is speaking before his mind can catch up to him. "I'm sure that you passed!" And because he can't control himself, he just keeps going. "I-I mean, you caught me at the end, didn't you? And back at the entrance! UA will totally miss out if they don't enroll you. You acted like a hero."
Huh, barely a mumble. Miracles do happen.
The nice girl (he really needs to learn her name) blushes at his praise, already flushed cheeks becoming reder. "Well, um, I'm sure it's the same with you!" She fires back. "I saw you help a bunch of people, and your quirk looks super cool! UA would want you just for those wings!"
"Wings?" He must have heard her wrong. He's exhausted from the practical, maybe she is too?
Unfortunately, the girl doesn't correct herself. She only looks at him with confusion evident on her face. "Yeah...? Your wings on your back? You used them to hop around before?"
Izuku is about to ask her what she's talking about, when suddenly all the aches and discomfort that he previously attributed to the rough practical strike him all at once. How his ears twitch from noises that he couldn't hear before. How that girl looks shorter than she did at the entrance, even though they were about the same height. How his tongue feels rough inside his own mouth and he can taste the metalic odor of the robots in air. How he can see a snout protruding from his face, covered in green fur that he definitely didn't have before.
He looks down at his arms. Clawed, cat-like hands meet his eyes, their paw pads offering a sensation that he has never before felt in his life. He takes a step back in shock, and the soft 'clop' of a hoof sounds off like a cannonball in his ears. He feels something extra, something new, something foreign brush against the rough concrete of the street.
And finally, FINALLY he sees what the nice girl was talking about. Because at the outline of his shadow on the ground, two large, insect-like wings are protruding from his back. A shadow that doesn't belong to him. Doesn't belong to his body.
Izuku's body (no it's not his, whatisthis) locks into place. He feels like he's stuck in some mascot costume filled with clay. He can't remember how to move the muscles that he used to mangle the robots, he doesn't know how to stop the twitching of the new appendages that act all on their own even though he commanded them moments prior, he can't remember how it is to breathe without tasting the sweatdirtgrimerustSTENCH of EVERYTHING around him!
He can sort of sense the girl from before coming to his side, but he can't even pay attention to her. She speaks to him, but his ears pick every sound around them but her voice. His breathing is becoming faster and rougher by the second, burning his lungs with foreign air. And when he finally manages to speak again, even his voice is not the one that he started the exam with.
"W-WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ME!?"
Adrenaline is a hell of a drug
