This video is a proof of #AncientMartialArts (special with #ChineseBodywork) are connected with #ContactImprovisation . Master 魏懋资济 (Micheal Weichhardt ) is showing Ba Xian Jian(#InternalMartialArts with swords with roudings movement very similar to most of #TaiChiChuan known forms .Its name is #EightImmortal sword). But during one of the movement(#ImmortalStep) , Master Wechhardt shows us that we will "keep the hip moving and FALL as soon the gravity center touches the GROUNDING". Yeap!😉As a #contactist , this description catched me in "FALL" and "#GROUNDING".(two important sensorial phenomens very dear to C.I. practice). #StevePaxton, before he performed #Magnesium in the 70's, before being part of #JudsonDanceTheater , he was pupil of #JoseLimon _ a disciple of #DorisHumphrey who used this kind of FALL to move his body during his choreographies. And also, the 1st C.I. 's manifesto was #FallAfterNewton. BINGO. As much all of the #newdance entusiasts and #SomaticEducators know C.I. is not a simply #dancestyle:it is more a way to EXPLORE MOVEMENT ITSELF using all your neuroperceptive skills, always leading your motor resouces to interact tactilly with the environment surrounding yourself.Contact Improv is also not only a duo dance :you can perform C.I. in any place your body can interact with touching...and GRAVITY will guide you on that beautiful journey. Steve practiced #Aikido and used all of what he learned to start this pathway in exploring movement, but as far as i know ,he let his student and performing partners find their own ways to explore it. That's why i praise so much the #ChineseMartialArts. They were not the first of their kind in human history. But they offer an abroad and open possibilities for you to enjoy movement and get the best of yourselves when you experience C.I. #LifeIsMovement. #NeiJiaChuan (em Wudang Mountain) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0WlkAgnpBu/?igshid=1q1z5gbld4s18
