My Graphic Journey: Screenplay to Novel - Part Two
It’s been a while since I last posted so I figured it’s time to update the progress of my graphic novel, “Lie.Cheat.Kill.”
More completed pages have been coming in and I’m starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. I’m the type that wants things now so the waiting has let’s say allowed me to work on being patient. Not to mention, I now have to start focusing on the marketing aspect of the graphic novel. This is not really something I’m excited about but I know I have to do. I love the art of creating but the thought of now having to promote is not my specialty. I like to let my work speak for itself but I guess sometimes you have to speak for your work. So, now I have to overcome my awkwardness with social media. I will continue posting pages of the graphic novel here and @chinstrapninja instagram page.
In case you haven’t read my previous post, I have taken my feature screenplay, “Lie.Cheat.Kill.” and am publishing it through my production company, Chinstrap Ninja. I have the hope that by having a completed graphic novel it will help me push the project forward to find funding to make the film. I’m very new to the graphic novel/comic world but I have to say it’s very exciting to see my script come to life panel by panel.
Being a novice in the graphic novel/comic world, I had no idea where to start to turn my screenplay into a graphic novel. Luckily, I found a company called storyboardgraphicnovels.com
After researching the company, I met with the founder Steve Stern. I felt confident to move forward and bring “Lie.Cheat.Kill.” to life on the printed page. Steve has been great and very helpful throughout the process. He hired Joseba Morales as the artist and I have to say his artwork has been incredible. Joseba was hired because of his talent in black and white ink. While I would of loved to have this graphic novel in color, the world of “Lie.Cheat.Kill.” is definitely better told with black and white inks.
Currently, the project is about halfway through the final inked pages and it looks like it should cross the finish line in the next six weeks. This will allow me to release the graphic novel in early 2019. I will continue to update when I can or when any new news is available.
