An in-depth and interactive workshop on Numeracy skills was conducted by Ms. Shreevidya Ramachandran, Coordinator, Training & Teacher Support, TTF on May 29-30, 2019 for Pre-primary teachers. The session saw a lot of hands-on activities based on the concepts and skills for the Early Years. The teachers found the session to be very energized and vibrant which kept them on the move, throughout.

The physiotherapist to the Indian Cricket Team, Mr. John Gloster, came to CHIREC to meet and interact with the sports staff on May 29, 2019. He emphasized the need for sports as being physically active helps built higher self-esteem and increase physical strength. He explained how unstructured training leads to various injuries and with the help of proper training from a young age, these injuries can be avoided.

CHIREC organized a very engaging session on Learning Spectrum for CAIE teachers on May 29-30, 2019. It was conducted by Ms. Alokaparna Das, Head Content, TTF, Ms. Sandhya Shivaprasad and Dr. Reeshma Suri, Senior Coordinators, Training & School Support, TFF. The first half saw the discussion on the aspects of 21st-century learning - learning environment, expectations of a learner, and how one can become a good teacher. They emphasized on collaborative work and how it can be used in the classroom. In the second half, they gave deep insights into teaching outside the classroom.

On May 29, 2019, CHIREC conducted a session on Sports Injury for the activity staff which was facilitated by Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Head of Advanced Rehabilitation center, SISA. The session explored the different types of sports injuries and how to avoid these injuries by taking proper measures. He gave deep insights into the latest trends in physiotherapy and trained the coaches on easy first aid steps that can be used during emergency situations.

CHIREC invited Ms. K. Sunitha Premalatha, Chief Dietitian at Yashoda Hospital, to conduct an informative lecture on the importance of nutrition in the development of children, especially athletes for the activity staff. She stressed on taking a balanced diet and avoid supplements to reduce several health complications. Participants learned to create their own diet plan according to weight, height, gender, age, etc. The session was held on May 28, 2019.

CHIREC organized a workshop on ‘Learning Disabilities’ for the teachers on June 3-4, 2019.  The session conducted by Ms. Madhavi Adimulam, Special Educational Needs Professional, was enriching as she gave insights into the identification and detection of the learning disabilities in children and how it can be improved through occupational therapy. She introduced the teachers to dyslexia, dysgraphia, etc., and shared her expertise to enhance teaching strategies and techniques to give these children an inclusive environment. The interactive session gave teachers an opportunity to share their experiences of facilitating the education of children with special needs.
