Okay but here’s how Chaf'orm'bintrano can still be named Formbi if he shows up in the Ascendancy books
So the general convention for core names is to use the last two letters of a Chiss’s family name (Thrawn, Zistalmu, Lakinda, etc) however from the new Lesser Evil excerpt we know that the Clarr family does not do this. Instead they only use the last letter of their family name (Roscu, Rupiov, and Rivlex). Following that convention, Formbi’s name would make perfect sense.
Now, you may be wondering about Afpriuh, one of the only other named members of the Chaf family. Shouldn’t using that core name convention mean Formbi should now be Aformbi? Not necessarily. In Greater Good Lakbulbup's wife is named Dilpram, and assuming she is a member of the Boadil family like her Wookieepedia page says she is, she would set the precedent for multiple core name beginnings in one family. The other named Boadil family member is Boadil'par'gasoi who’s core name is Ilparg. If Dilpram and Ilparg are both Boadil then it would not be unreasonable for Afpriuh and Formbi to both be Chaf
If anyone else was curious if Chiss are adopted into the family they marry into or if they have to marry within their family, I’m here to tell you they don’t! Lakbulbup’s wife’s name is Dilpram which makes them from the Xodlak and Boadil families respectively
Hmmmmmm I wonder if Trial-Borns can’t get kicked out of the Mitth. It’s been bothering me since I read Greater Good that even after being exiled and presumably bringing the dishonor Thurfian was worried about to the Mitth, Thrawn still kept the family name. Like wouldn’t stripping him of any connections to the Mitth be the first thing Patriarch Thurfian would want to do? But as of the end of Chaos Rising Thrawn is Trial-Born so maybe that’s it
