micah is SO well written dude i like his character a lot because of the fact hes not just a two dimensional evil villian like yes he has pretty much no redeemable qualities but its because of the enviorment he grew up in.
unlike the other members of the gang aside from jack, he was born into the outlaw life and his immediate family were all criminals. and micah even hated his brother amos after leaving them and being an outlaw to be a family man. now, there is quite a lot of stuff online about micahs father being abusive, and im not sure how much of that is just theory and headcanon and which is confirmed, but it wouldnt be a surprise to know that micah was abused during his childhood.
im not saying its an excuse for it, but if that is the case then he probably picked up most of his behaviors and personality FROM his father. micah abuses animals, is emotionally abusive to pretty much everybody in the gang, is extremely manipulative, and i wouldny be surprised to hear that those are behaviors he learnt from experiencing them for years.
hes a very hateful person, and the way he gets around in life is being violent and manipulative. he only joined the gang so he could get a big payout in the end, he never trusted or liked any of them really. he doesnt even MAKE an attempt to get along with any of them besides dutch really. and even during the rare times he is being nice, the gang members usually call him out for it and the fact hes only doing it to get what he wants.
now, i could go all into all the stuff ive read about him and how that definitely affected his developement, but then id be blending fanfiction with canon, so im not gonna do that. but, even with all the uncertainty of why he is the way he is, yknow there has to be SOME explanation for why he turned out that way. people dont just become bad people for the fun of it most of the time right? so ya idk i think itd be cool if eventually we got some explanation about his backstory etc etc but i doubt it
