It was supposed to be a birthday present, but it kind of felt like an insult too. Chloe’s friends were always insistent that her apartment gave off grandma vibes and needed a makeover. But between lesson plans and coming back from kindergarten class too tired to even do her own dishes some nights let alone rethink furniture and color scheme, her friends had gone ignored. The hope had been that they’d give up on it eventually. But then Bethany pulled her A type personality magic and now she was running late to a meeting with an interior designer who was already paid for.
Saturdays were normally her days to go bare faced and stay in her pajamas all day, and here she was trying to look like a presentable human being because for some reason she cared what a stranger thought about her. Checking her phone for the address of the coffee shop Bethany had texted her, she spotted the woman whose face she’d seen on the website she’d lurked. Nadedja, amazing reviews, a really broad portfolio, Chloe would be lying if she said she wasn’t impressed. But being impressed often went hand in hand with being overwhelmed for her, so she had to take a few moments to deep breath before she made her way to the table.
“Miss Aslanov? I’m Chloe Miller, your 10 o’clock. Though I’m sure my friend Bethany has already filled you in on all her ideas for my apartment.”
