The History of Chocodiles

IDK if you know this, but I accidentally became a leading authority on Chocodiles about a decade go. I included Chocodiles in an early Modest Medusa strip, and they became... just a part of my life. For several years I would give them out at conventions. People would bring my boxes of Chocodiles as gifts, or to sign. For awhile Hostess even bought ad space to advertise Chocodiles on my site. Part of this is that people would ask me about Chocodiles all the time. I ended up learning a lot, and was kind of surprised to discover that no one else seemed to have the whole story. I ended up writing about it a few years ago, but I think that post has been lost. So here we go again:

Connor was at his best as a character (not a person) in his first few episodes (teenaged not baby). How he is unfamiliar with the modern world. Saving Sunny, chocodiles, tools for eating. His unhinged grin when he tries to kill Cordelia, the confusion and pain on his face as her demony powers pass through him, ridding him of some of the stain that Quartoth left on him. How he breaks down and cries in her arms, just like a child. Because he is just a child and that is the first moment in his life that he gets to be one, to take comfort in a mother, to be vulnerable and feel safe.

I think one of the problems with how Connor was handled is that he very rarely got to be a character who's depths we explored, who's immense trauma was delved into. There could have been much more to him than the writers gave us.

I generally don't like Connor as a character. I don't enjoy him and he brings a lot of grief to the show, we all know the troubles of season 4. It's sad, because I think he had a lot of potential if his character and storyline hadn't been so fumbled.

So, @lyatttrash challenged the goats to write a fic no more than 1k words based on a sentence of dialogue. This is my very short piece based around “no way, that’s not happening.”

“No way, that’s not happening.”

“Come on Rufus. You know you want to.” Wyatt spoke in a sing song voice that even made him cringe.

“Nuh uh, no.” Rufus wrapped his arms around the box in front of him, as if the action would protect him and the contents from Wyatt’s prying eyes. “Get your own.”

“I don’t have time. Besides, it’s your fault I can’t get enough. Ever since that night in the bar, I’ve been craving more.”

“Wyatt Logan, these are mine. Jiya bought them for me. I am not sharing my chocodiles with you, or anyone. If you’re that desperate, go and get your own.” As he spoke, Rufus stood to his feet, the box of his favourite snack cradled in his hands. “I wish I’d never mentioned them now.”

Without another word, he stalked off to sit with Jiya, leaving Wyatt alone and craving sugar.
