Rich, dark chocolate and a touch of heat from cayenne and cinnamon combine to create a deliciously delightful combination in these spicy brownies. For people who like a little kick in their desserts, these are ideal.
Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter. 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar. 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar. 4 large eggs. 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract. 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon salt. 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper. 6 ounces dark chocolate 70-72% cacao, coarsely chopped. 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C and butter the bottom and sides of a 9x13-inch baking pan. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and vanilla extract together. Slowly pour the butter and sugar mixture into the bowl, stirring continuously. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chopped dark chocolate and chocolate chips. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack. Once completely cool, cut into squares and enjoy!
