after being poked by tumblr user @eternal-holly, i decided to share the (non extensive) list of reasons why chocomatcha activates my neurons (aka spreading my chocomatcha agenda)

(to preface this: i am going off of chocomatcha as written in the english adaptation of the game, i only started playing cookie run kingdom recently, and i did some light reading on crob because i don't have time to play the game myself. feel free to expand this or correct me if i made any mistakes)

estranged relationship with a parent they idolised (dark enchantress in matcha's case and dark cacao in dark choco's case)

used to work under the series' main villain but have since left

both are heavily implied, if not outright stated, to be disabled (yet another reason why they'd get each other)

YMMV but i choose to interpret them both as neurodivergent

doesn't laugh x can't stop giggling / serious guy x silly girl

i don't know how to explain this with words so i grabbed these story introductions to prime you up. mind the manner in which they talk about this concept of "darkness" in each story

someone who was born into darkness and who doesn't know light, wouldn't blink twice at the whole corruption shtick that dark choco has. if anything, i think she'd take an interest in him because he can utilise that "dark power" properly, which is something that she herself cannot do on the account of her infamous missing ingredient

as someone who thinks they lost the right to walk the light, i think that dark choco would pity how matcha was never given the chance to experience it

think of a person who's internalised all these bad behaviours because they genuinely don't know better on the account of something being inherently wrong with them (matcha) and a person who lost everything due to a misguided choice, who is aware of everything they could have but doesn't think they deserve it (dark choco)

both of these two have quotes in crk that come off as standoffish/wanting to be left alone, but everything about their stories proves that isn't the case! matcha craves affection and approval, and dark choco wishes to go back to the world he left behind

matcha in ovenbreak specifically has so nany quotes about seeking out darkness, oh my god. and dark choco has been thoroughly soaked in it. she wants to study him under a microscope so badly

please consider dark choco playing with matcha's pet green tea bag for therapeutic purposes

please consider that matcha most likely loves to do hair because all of her skins spot a different elaborate hair style (and there realistically isn't anyone who'd do it for her). now consider that dark choco used to have long hair before, and that getting it done might be nostalgic for him (they are both so touch starved, yes)

please consider dark choco and red velvet as in-laws

please consider dark cacao and matcha as in-laws
