I think it Isayama might have asked for it to be added. He did also ask for Annie’s reaction to cover getting blown to be different as well. Instead of just staring creepily at Armin, she lets out that creepy-laugh as well. 

It hurt to see Nanaba begging for her father to stop in the episode, but I fear that her words will end up going no where and that the anime won’t expand on why she said what she said.

I agree. But like I said above, I do also want her words to be expanded on. My heart already hurts, but if it’s just a throwaway line, then what was the point of adding it in?

Armin frequently compliments Annie and makes her blush. Annie, on the other hand, rarely uses words to express her love for him but shows her affection through little acts of kindness.

Yes yes yes, that’s my favorite way to portray their over all interactions especially in the beginning of their relationship. He’s good with words, and she’s really not, and she knows it and is a little self conscious about it, and so Annie does all she can in any other way. Armin doesn’t mind one bit. He thinks it’s the cutest damn thing.
