Oh! This all makes a lot more sense now. This is the kind of creature that would eat bones. If that was an actual human saying that stuff before, well, that would just be concerning.
Chombone itself kind of looks like a bone, but looks even MORE like some kind of larva or worm that camouflages itself as a bone using all the calcium it eats. So, it would ironically/fittingly (I don’t know which to use here) not have any bones of its own. Does that have something to do with your diet, Chombone? Do you consume bone to make up for that which your body lacks?
“I eat bones because I like to do it.”
That is a valid reason to do anything. I will not argue with it. What is a bone-eating creature’s role in a Mario game? Why, this game has the Bros adventuring inside of Bowser. It’s going to be eating Bowser’s bones, of course! Sometimes his bones are just in the way. And he has a lot of them. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind sparing a few.
“I agree. Would you mind sparing a few, too?”
Yes, I would mind very much. I am still using them. Anyway, even more interesting about Chombone is that despite its fearsome appearance, it is not an enemy! It is never battled, cannot hurt Mario and Luigi, and only serves to help them progress. How delightful! You’re a real sweetheart, aren’t you, Chombone?
