Given that the desert in plegia has to be artificial in nature for their to be any cohesive connectivity between the archanea setting and the ylisse setting, and given such environmental changes in fe [most notably with duma swampifying large portions of valentia] are typically attributable to the influence of a dragons power it raises the question of what happens to plegias environment following a timeline where grima is forever perma killed as opposed to just being sealed.
given the environment of valm as we see it, the implication is no plegia will eventually turn into no longer being a desert region given time, as the former swamp areas of valentia and the desertfied portions of zofia [which were due to milas own powers going haywire] both are presented as no longer being desertified in the valm period day [as far as we see anyways].
of course given that as far as I can tell chon'sin takes up the area where ram village used to be [their ancestral burial ground is the thieves shrine which is a hop skip away from ram village]... im almost tempted to say i want an awakening prequel set between grimas first and second awakenings just to get a better grasp on what the fuck happened.
The Fire Emblem Awakening Cast but I give them Middle and Last Names
Alright. Part two of the “giving middle and last names to characters who don’t have one”, this time with Awakening. Hope you like it, and feel free to not agree with my naming choices! I’m sure there’s much more to disagree with this time around, given that we aren’t given so much ‘this was inspired by this place’ in Awakening. Still, please be kind! This is all just in the name of fun.

And here comes the part where I explain myself:
‣ Names were infinitely harder this time because I had less to base it off of, and had to play the headcanon game. Most characters will have their full name chosen based on what went with their first name’s origin, and what names suited their personalities (and flowed well).
‣ One such instance of headcanon is Chrom being “Chrom Saros”, which was decided by the fact that I’d called his father “Saros” in fanfiction before. I imagine Chrom detests his full name because of its ties to his father.
‣ The name Sumia is of Arabic origin, so she gets an Arabic last name. Maybe she is biracial? Fun idea to toy with.
‣ Like Keaton and Kaden in the previous ones, Nowi made her last name up. She just picked something she thought sounded cool and cute, and went along with it.
‣ Panne was given the option to choose a last name, but chose nothing. If it wasn’t a taguel thing, what was the point? She was already the only taguel. Panne would always be Panne.
‣ Names for the most part in Plegia were inspired by desert countries, such as Algeria. Given Plegia’s desert aesthetics, I figured it would only make sense that those who hailed from there would be given names that were popular in real life desert countries.
‣ Any of the characters originating from Chon’sin were given Japanese names (with some slight adjustments to account for the Chon’sin love of apostrophes). There is not much sourcing on the background inspiration for Chon’sin other than the wiki briefly mentioning that it’s “sort of Japanese, a bit like Hoshido but much less influenced”. So I played around with some names and got that together.
‣ Some characters straight up have names without backgrounds. It happens in fantasy settings. Where it did, I just decided to flat out substitute in fantasy names. Miriel, for example, is a name that originates from fiction already. So I just slapped on some other fantasy names and voila.
‣ Walhart’s last name is linked not to his name’s origin, but to Alm of Echoes. If I remember correctly, Walhart is meant to be Alm’s descendant, so I figured it would make sense for the two of them to have names that match in some way. Plus, Walhart is another one of those fantasy names.
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now! I’d say “I’ll do Three Houses next”, but they’ve already got them haha. I suppose I could do any of the older games if someone wanted me to, but I’m afraid I don’t know the characters as well. Still, doesn’t mean I’m not willing to try ;)
Boon/Bane: Skill/Res
Class: Myrmidon
Second Seal: Thief, Mercenary
Recruited at Chapter 15. Appears at the top left corner of the map at the beginning of ally phase of turn 1 as a level 20 Myrmidon. Say'ri must talk to her to recruit her. Equipped with a Silver Sword, Killing Edge, and Concoction
Yu'bin is part of Say'ri's resistance against Walhart after he conquered Chon'sin. She honed her skills with the blade under Say'ri as she trained under her in order to serve the resistance. As Say'ri gets cornered by Valmese soldiers, Yu'bin chases after them, attempting to save her. When Say'ri is rescued by Chrom and talks to her, Yu'bin is relieved and joins Chrom's army as well
Roster
A patriotic swordswoman of Chon'sin part of Say'ri's resistance against Valm. Despite her intense diligence in training, she is very lazy when tasked to do other things and is reckless in battle. Looks up to Say'ri as a dignified mentor and role model. Polishes her sword way too many times. Born on April 25th.
Remember that ask meme from like months ago? Here are the scraps I wrote for @phrenotobe!
1. Absolute love for his sister
Yen'fay sacrifices everything for his sister, even when she doesn't ask for it. His sense of worth as a person, his position as king, and the lives of his countrymen - he sacrifices everything for Say'ri. Even his life is forfeit. In some ways, I think this desperation was something that definitely developed over time, and, as he lost his parents and more and more at the hands of Walhart, he starts associating Say'ri with the one thing he might be able to salvage. His love becomes burdensome in this case and chooses Say'ri, his sister, over Say'ri, the person, to value. I have to see him as fundamentally damaged in his inability to safeguard anything.
2. Few Words
Yen'fay is definitely not an eloquent speaker. He's reticent and Say'ri mentions how hard his silence is on her. I think he has trouble articulating his deep feelings or else finds words insufficient for how much he feels. Loose tongues would end Say'ri's life after all. I think his poor verbal communication skills is compensated for the tender care and eye for detail he possesses, especially in regards to Say'ri. As a king, he was one that most likely had loyalty of his soldiers through fighting and caring for them on the field. He is an old soul who in the end knows too much and expresses too little.
3. Pride and How It Manifests
He and Say'ri are both extremely proud of their culture, their manners, how they fight, and how Chon'sin is.Something I think that doesn't get touched upon enough is that Chon'sin is implied to be utterly ravaged and also different from many other Valmese countries. Give the feudal Japanese ties, it's super weird to me that they would import their island isolationist developed culture to a huge continent like Valm. The explanation? Chon'sin WAS isolated and one of the last bastions to fall. Because of this, the loss of Chon'sin meant Yen'fay tries to single handedly carry the entire weight of his culture and its ways- even when he personally is unsure.
So he distills it down to a warrior's pride, something that he can cling on even as the higher, nobler ideals are trampled upon by his work for Walhart. If I was to ever write Yen'fay, he would be proud almost to the point of bullishness. He doesn't have much left, even within the values he holds dear after all.
And that was all I wrote back then! :0
I think I would add some stuff about how he's damaged and how he was never comfortable with a kingship as much as a generalship. And emphasize the sister brother ruling team that likely would have resulted.
The fact that Lon'qu canonically cannot stand the heat is so funny to me because he was born and raised in Chon'sin, a country known for its sweltering summers. My mother is the exact same way- born on an island known for 100 degree summers with 100% humidity but she always complains my 75 degree room is way too hot.
