Day 2: Choose Character
Hi guys! Continuation for the things I learned during our APSC held at Bali, Indonesia. Day 2: Choose Character So what is actually the meaning of the word "character"? Character - in Greek word "dokimen" meaning "proof". It is used to define a person. And in order to identify the real character of the person there are various testing/suffering that the person might face. Romans 5:1-5 In thi scripture, Paul already knows that we're gonna go through various sufferings but all these sufferings are good. Sometimes we end up giving up but God always gives us hope. There are a lot of people in the Bible whom their character was defined through their sufferings one example is Anna - she is a person who is very secured with God Luke 2:36-38 Although Anna was a widow for 7 years and she was alone until she died at the age of 84. She is still prayerful. I really admire her heart for not complaining about her situation to God and instead she still find the joy and security through God. How can we have a proper character? 1. Secure in God The world that we are living right is full of imitation. Imitation in the sense that it don't last. Most of the people now are finding their security to these temporary happiness rather than on the things that are for eternal. Who will comfort you when you are lonely? Is it God or is it man? Do you dwell thoughts on your own? Or with God? In Romans 8:28, it clearly states there that nothing in this world can separate us from the love of God. 2. Setting our lives from things above Colossians 3:5-10 Satan will use our thoughts, feelings, bad experiences, sinful nature to shake us. But we have Christ engraved in our hearts. Colossians 3:12-17 When we are distracted from worldly things do we put on the clothes that God gave us? Many people dress well to impress the world. Do we get up everyday and dress to impress Jesus? Maybe we can also ask these questions among ourselves: Do we remember Jesus when we are lost? Do we follow the compass of God? How do we keep our joy and trust in God? Philippians 4:4-7 Let us rejoice in the Lord always. This is what the character that Jesus wants us to be. Lets choose character!
